a. Development of exchange studies and human resources during Asian modernization (Matsunaga)
b. Import and processing of knowledge and technology (Matsumoto/Hattori)
② Politics/Ideology Group: the foundations of Asian civil society framework and the role of Japan（Se/Ogawara）
③ Industry/Technology Group: the process to establish the modern Japanese technology standard (Yoshioka/Miyaji).
B “Japan seen from outside” Group
Extract Japanese characteristics through comparisons with research conducted in other countries.
